Labour Party Conference delegates protected by Bi-Steel barrier system

Delegates at the Labour Party Spring Conference, which was held at The Sage Gateshead, benefited from the added protection of a high performance Bi-Steel traffic barrier system. This was one of the first occasions that these barriers have been used and they are increasingly being deployed at events such as this where the highest levels of security are in operation.

Bi-Steel anti-attack vehicle barriers are typically used to restrict vehicle access, to slow down and divert oncoming traffic and to withstand explosive attack.  Bi-Steel, the material that the barriers are constructed from, is a patented steel/concrete composite originally developed to protect high profile buildings such as those on military bases, embassies and other structures that might be targeted with explosive attacks.

The barriers can be easily deployed in a variety of arrangements and quickly removed when no longer required.  They also look attractive and are typically painted in colours that blend in with the local street furniture.

Corus worked closely with Northumbria Police to ensure that the deployment at The Sage Gateshead was carried out efficiently and with minimum disruption.
