Fatigue

Fatigue was included as part of the research programme. Design guidance appropriate to many applications is therefore provided.

The most severe fatigue application that Bi-Steel has been used in to date is a rail bridge.

The method of designing Bi-Steel for fatigue is similar to the method used for designing composite bridges. Tests of panels have confirmed the suitability of the S-N design curves, subject to a minimum plate thickness.

Where Bi-Steel is being considered for a fatigue loaded application, it is recommended that you contact Corus as early in the project as possible for advice on the suitability of Bi-Steel for the intended application.
