New Arrestor, jointly developed by Corus Bi-Steel and Bristorm, proves its effectiveness

The new Arrestor is a free-standing, demountable anti-vehicle fence, which complements the current anti-vehicle security systems offered by both companies. It is designed to be used on a temporary or semi-permanent basis to protect sites with larger perimeters from vehicle bomb attack. One of its major benefits is its speed of deployment.

The development, and testing to BSI PAS 68, of the Arrestor was a quick response to Government security services’ needs in advance of the Summit, taking just three months from design, through testing, to first installation. It can be fully deployed within hours of arrival on site thanks to a unique ‘no dig’ feature that eliminates the need for time-consuming foundations. The system comprises arrangements of Bi-Steel barges to which wire ropes are attached, the barges are spaced out as appropriate around the perimeter of a security-sensitive site to provide protection against a vehicle attack.
