Bi-Steel’s re-deployable anti-attack vehicle security barriers were selected to receive a ‘Highly Commended’ Award at the prestigious Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) Annual Awards ceremony which took place at RAF Hendon on 18 June.

The Award was made in the ‘Security in the Public Realm’ Category, sponsored by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure, the Government authority that provides protective security advice to businesses and organisation across the national infrastructure.

The IHT is the premier organisation of its type in Europe, promoting excellence in planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of land-based transport systems and infrastructure. Its Annual Awards celebrate innovative achievements in the transport sector and recognise best practice within the industry.

The Judges selected Bi-Steel’s barrier system to receive the Award as they recognised its contribution to security at three of London’s Airports. The Judges commented that they “were impressed by the recent developments of this blast resistant system to provide not only a temporary and surface-mounted solution but also to incorporate new pedestrian portal, perimeter fence and gated modules. The Judges were also complimentary about the quality of product finishes now available.”

Bi-Steel anti-attack vehicle barriers and walls are currently in use protecting the Palace of Westminster, Government buildings in Whitehall, and New Scotland Yard, as well as major UK airports and harbours, cash distribution centres, military bases and overseas embassies.
