Security solution design

Security solution design

The Bi-Steel technical and design teams offer a complete design service. The following key steps are undertaken in order to design a Bi-Steel security solution to meet each individual customer’s protection requirements.

Develop a protection strategy Back to Top

The first stage of design is to establish a protection strategy to resist explosion effects. This could involve the use of integral or stand-alone blast walls or an anti-attack vehicle barrier system to protect against blast, fragmentation and flash through effects.

Assess blast interactionBack to Top

Blast magnification may occur due to reflection off adjacent structures and building geometry. The second stage of design involves determining the blast interaction with structures surrounding the explosion source in order to predict the blast loading on the building being protected.

Quantify loading on structural componentsBack to Top

The third stage of design involves determining the blast loading subjected to the structural components (walls, ceilings, floors etc.), based on the predicted blast loading on the building being protected.

Specify and design Bi-Steel security solutionBack to Top

After carefully considering all of the above, an appropriate Bi-Steel security solution can be designed to meet the protection requirements of each individual customer. Bi-Steel is designed to absorb the energy of a blast through plastic response, such that any Bi-Steel component (including blast walls, citadel protection or stand-off protection barriers) will significantly reduce the blast loads transmitted to the primary structure of a building.

Bi-Steel is able to react rapidly and this frequently involves fast-tracking design, manufacturer and fabrication. Our suggested lead time is 14-28 weeks, however depending on complexity and availability of material, Bi-Steel may be able to meet a 12 week lead in time.
