Redeployable vehicle barriers

Redeployable vehicle barriers

The Bi-Steel PAS 68 tested anti-attack vehicle barrier system is designed to control or prevent vehicle access to security-sensitive locations. The system meets key user requirements for rapid, temporary deployment, effective vehicle stopping and protection of people and assets.

Bi-Steel delivers robust physical protection against VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) attack. This includes resistance to the impact of a vehicle being driven at speed and protection against terrorist bomb attack. The Bi-Steel security barrier system has been fully tested in accordance with PAS 68:2007 and meets the requirements of the relevant agencies operating within the security and defence fields. These tests have proven that Bi-Steel significantly outperforms other similar systems.

The Bi-Steel anti-attack vehicle barrier system comprises:

Vehicle barriers

The barriers are available in two main formats and designed to be quickly and easily deployed and then removed when no longer required. ‘Barge’ shaped barriers are typically used in conjunction with a gate system at points in the perimeter where authorised vehicles may pass through. Straight and curved barriers are used across other parts of the secure area to provide a continuous vehicle barrier wall to control, calm and redirect traffic though a pre-defined route.

High performance gate systems are available, comprising heavy steel sections with substantial hinge and locking points which are fixed onto Bi-Steel ‘barge’ units. The hinge point is adjustable to ensure that the steel beam is balanced and can be opened with minimal effort.  The steel beam absorbs the impact energy of the vehicle by bending, with the forces being transferred to the ‘barge’ units attached to either side.  This provides a highly effective method of controlling vehicle access whilst at the same time providing effective protection against attack.

Pedestrian portalsBack to Top
Pedestrian portals

Bi-Steel pedestrian portals allow the free flow of pedestrians through an arrangement of Bi-Steel redeployable barriers. Their specialist design ensures that the full effectiveness of the system, in providing robust protection against vehicle borne explosive attack, is maintained. The portals have been fully tested in accordance with PAS 68.

Constructed from heavy-duty steel, the portals facilitate the uninterupted access that is required by this type of controlled pedestrian entrance and conform to the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005. They use a simple bolted system to connect them to the Bi-Steel barriers and are quick and easy to install, requiring no specialist skills or equipment. The portals are ideal for use at major sporting arenas and other events involving large numbers of people.
